A tall bed is the one a small or older dog stops jumping onto first. Five steps split that height into short rises your dog can walk. Measure from the floor to the top of the mattress: our five-step stairs reach about 21 to 25 inches, depending on the model.
Straight steps take the least floor space, curved steps make each rise lower and each tread longer, and the stairs with side rails add a guard at the top where your dog steps across onto the bed. Push any of them flush against the frame so there is no gap at the top step.
